Shared Health Indigenous Health champions beneficial, systemic change to help improve health outcomes of First Nations, Métis and Inuit people who access care in Manitoba.

The forming Indigenous Health team will be responsible for the delivery of specialized services throughout the health system where provincial consistency is prioritized. Indigenous Health guides the coordinated planning and delivery of traditional Indigenous health services.

The team works broadly with programs, facilities and teams across Shared Health, Manitoba’s regional health authorities, CancerCare Manitoba and Manitoba Health, supporting the health system with cohesively addressing gaps and opportunities.

Indigenous Health supports leaders and teams with applying their evolving cultural knowledge, advancing relevant legislation and guidance calls, and working collaboratively to address long-standing Indigenous health priorities.

We inform and partner on strategic initiatives throughout the province, including disrupting Indigenous-specific racism, barrier-free clinical services, and workforce development.

We provide strategic advice on meaningful engagement with provincial Indigenous partners and organizations. Another opportunity to build trust and benefit from provincial collaboration is through the Provincial Indigenous Health Network, which Shared Health Indigenous Health leads and coordinates.
