Provincial Indigenous Health Network

Manitoba’s Provincial Indigenous Health Network provides leadership, strategic counsel, and operational guidance for the delivery of Indigenous health services across Manitoba’s health service delivery organizations.

With representation from throughout the province, the group works collaboratively across Manitoba’s health regions, identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships, create inclusive care environments and workspaces, and to improve health access, experiences and outcomes for Indigenous People.

Manitoba’s Indigenous populations – and Indigenous Health services – vary by region. For more information on the services available in your area, please visit the following:

Within Shared Health, including at large facilities such as Health Sciences Centre, Indigenous Health supports are available to First Nations, Métis and Inuit Manitobans accessing health services and culturally appropriate programming. As a vital and foundational focus within Manitoba’s health system, Indigenous Health is playing a key role in the development of high-quality, culturally informed care, including leading and coordinating provincial efforts to ensure that Indigenous voices are heard and reflected in the design of new and improved programs, services and facilities.

IERHA realizes the need to change the view of Indigenous health within the region and understand the resiliency of this population as a key foundation on which to improve Indigenous health outcomes. The purpose of the region’s Indigenous Health Strategy is to guide the Interlake-Eastern Health Region and potential Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners in the region toward a shared understanding that addressing health inequities cannot occur in isolation, but rather through working together.
