Emergency Response Services (ERS) and Provincial Emergency Medical Service & Patient Transport (EMS/PT)

ERS delivers air and land ambulance services across Manitoba. EMS/PT provides land-based primary response and interfacility transport (IFT) outside of Winnipeg to the four Provincial service zones – North, East, West, and South. Each service zone corresponds to a regional health authority – Northern Regional Health Authority (NRHA), Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA), Prairie Mountain Health (PMH), and Southern Health – Santé Sud (SHSS).

All paramedics working for EMS/PT and the employees of providers operating under service purchase agreements (SPA) to provide ground response and transport in the service zones must comply with all ERS policies, procedures, protocols, and care maps established by ERS (excepting Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, and other SPA providers by arrangement with ERS). All patient care must be provided in accordance with the standards of practice established by the College of Paramedics of Manitoba (CPMB).

EMS/PT care maps, standing orders, policies and protocols are constantly reevaluated. Changes or updates will be posted in the “COMING SOON” section so staff can become familiar in advance of release.

Corrections or urgent changes will be release as required and will be posted here as soon as possible. Updates will be occur on a regular basis and will be posted here in advance of release.

Remember that these documents are not approved until signed by ERS medical leadership and cannot be implemented into your patient care until 0700 hrs on the effective date.
