Emergency Response Services (ERS) and Provincial Emergency Medical Service & Patient Transport (EMS/PT)
All paramedics and emergency medical responders employed by ERS (including those with the Adult Transport Team and Community Paramedicine Program) must provide patient care in accordance with the ERS care maps, standing orders, and clinical procedures published here.
Contractors providing land-based EMS and patient transport under service purchase agreement (SPA) with Shared Health must also adhere to all ERS protocols, policies, and procedures (excluding Winnipeg Fire-Paramedic Service).
Once released, these documents are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that they continue to represent best practice. Urgent corrections or revisions are released as expeditiously as possible.
In advance of release, documents will usually be posted in the “COMING SOON” folder (the folder actually disappears from the webpage when there is nothing new inside). Paramedics are urged to familiarize themselves with these prior to the “Effective Date” but they cannot be utilized in patient care until implementation.
As well, employees should periodically review the “MEMOS” section for important communications from the clinical management team.
