The Medicine Wheel
The medicine wheel is a significant symbol in many Indigenous cultures across Canada, representing the interconnectedness of all life and the cyclical nature of existence. It is typically depicted as a circle divided into four sections, each representing a different aspect of life. Often the four directions – north, south, east, west – are partnered with different elements, seasons, colours, animals, sacred medicines, and stages of life, each contributing to the harmony of the individual and community.
There is no one “correct” medicine wheel. The medicine wheel can be used as a guide for healing, teaching, and finding balance in your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual life.
