Frequently asked questions
Client Registry Query Service
Who will have access to CR Query?
As part of the implementation process, permissions for access are determined by the site and enabled at the clinic level by the EMR vendor.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
How are lab and digital imaging results routed from the source system to an EMR?
eHealth_hub is a Shared Health service that coordinates electronic delivery of information between source systems and authorized site electronic medical records (EMR), based on key routing instructions set up during the implementation process. Note: A diagnostic imaging report will not include the images – only the report.
How often are results delivered to an EMR by eHealth_hub?
Delivery is dependent on the settings programmed within the EMR. Contact your EMR vendor for more information about the frequency of receiving results.

General
What is the difference between eHealth_hub and eChart?
eHealth_hub is a Shared Health service that coordinates electronic delivery of information between source systems and authorized site electronic medical records (EMR) for patients that receive care by the site. As an example, a health-care provider could receive their ordered laboratory results electronically into their EMR instead of by fax.
eChart Manitoba is a secure electronic system that allows authorized health-care providers access to your health information when needed. eChart pulls together information from many systems in Manitoba, including filled drug prescriptions, lab results, immunizations, and diagnostic imaging reports. For more information visit eChartManitoba.ca
Will my information be secure?
Yes. Shared Health has measures in place to protect your privacy and keep your information safe. All Manitoba’s regulatory and legislative standards on protecting personal health information, including The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) are followed.
How do I get training for eHealth_hub services?
Contact your EMR vendor for training support.
Enrolment Service
Will patient enrolment information be shared with other providers?
Yes. Patient enrolment details are available in eChart Manitoba to authorized users with the appropriate access. Sharing patient enrolment information supports improved communication opportunities between episodic care providers and Home Clinics, enabling comprehensive and continuous care for your enrolled patients.

Diagnostic Imaging (DI)
What modalities and facilities are available for DI reports via eHealth_hub?
Refer to our list of diagnostic imaging reports for information on modalities and facilities.
How do I stop receiving the fax/paper copy of the DI report?
DI does not have the ability to stop sending the fax/paper copy. Please talk to your Digital Solutions Facilitator to turn off the eHealth_hub DI Service.
Immunization Query Services (IQS)
Who in my clinic will have access to IQS?
As part of the implementation process, permissions for access are determined by the site and enabled at the clinic level by the EMR vendor.
How does IQS work?
The EMR user will have the ability to select which immunization records they wish to incorporate into their EMR.
What immunization details are available via the Immunization Query Service?
Public Health Information Management System (PHIMS) has a specific set of data elements available to store information. If recorded in PHIMS, examples of immunization information available through the Service includes status of the immunization event, vaccine product, date administered, lot number, site of immunization, dose, reason vaccine was given, and any notes recorded related to the immunization event. Patient information masked by a Disclosure Directive in PHIMS will not be available. Users will be informed as part of the Service if a Disclosure Directive exists.
How might the immunization data available via the Immunization Query Service be different than immunization data captured in our EMR?
PHIMS has a specific set of data elements available to store information. These fields may differ from what is available in your EMR. How information is captured in the fields may also be different than how your site captures information in your EMR. Some examples may include differences in:
- Vaccine names/products (e.g. MMR, Measles-Mumps-Rubella, PRIORIX).
- Vaccine dates (e.g. date administered in PHIMS or date recorded in EMR).
- Date formats (EMR may contain partial dates (e.g. May 2019) while PHIMS contains full dates (e.g. May 22, 2019).
- Patient demographics (e.g. date of birth) may be different resulting in no patient match in PHIMS or no immunization records being returned from PHIMS Clinical judgement may be required during incorporation of PHIMS data into your EMR.
What are the auditing requirements?
Sites implemented with Immunization Query Service will work collaboratively to complete auditing requirements. For more information contact [email protected].
Laboratory (Labs)
What laboratory sources currently provide information to eHealth_hub?
Diagnostic Services Shared Health and Cadham Provincial Laboratory.
Note: not all Manitoba Certified EMRs offer Cadham Provincial Lab results.
What type of lab results are delivered by eHealth_hub?
Refer to list of Lab results type table.
Why did an infant result arrive unmatched in the EMR?
If a test requisition is sent from a clinic to a lab without including the infant’s PHIN, the result will arrive in the EMR as unmatched. However, other demographics, such as the Manitoba Family Registration Number (6-digit number), will be sent as an identifier to provide additional information. An infant requisition sent from a Winnipeg hospital will include the hospital medical record number (MRN) identifier.
