Jeannette Wheeler was the oldest child out of five kids and became a caregiver at a very young age. She lived in a family where physical, mental and sexual abuse was an every day occurrence.
“During most of my childhood I walked on eggshells waiting for the next episode to occur, as it always did.”
It wasn’t until Jeannette became an adult that she was able to being a long journey to recovery through United Way funded agencies.
“The skilled counselors at these agencies gifted me with a toolbox that I could use to rebuild my life.”
