Overview
Shared Health Indigenous Health is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples through the advancement of Indigenous identified priority initiatives, and expanded awareness, access, and knowledge of Indigenous health Services across Manitoba.
Our team works with programs, facilities and teams in Manitoba’s regional health authorities and CancerCare Manitoba to develop coordinated patient services, staff education, and improve access to culturally safe care environments and workspaces.
We lead and coordinate strategic initiatives, including patient services, community engagement and partnerships, and workforce development initiatives; inform provincial clinical planning to ensure consideration and inclusion of Indigenous priorities and populations; and coordinate Manitoba’s Indigenous Health Network, which provides direction and leadership in the delivery of Indigenous Health services.
We recognize the unique health challenges faced by Indigenous peoples and acknowledge the historical injustices, systemic inequalities, and impact of colonialism, that have contributed to these realities.
