Managing Chronic Pain in Primary Care: Understanding the Options
It is estimated that 1 in 5 Canadians live with chronic pain. While opioids were once heavily promoted for the management of chronic pain, these powerful medications can cause serious harm and not recommended for long-term use.
In October’s Choosing Wisely Talks, we’ll discuss options for managing chronic pain using the PEER Simplified Chronic Pain Guideline. Drs. Tina Korownyk and Adrienne Lindblad will discuss management approaches and provide easy-to-use resources for patients and providers that encourage shared decision-making.
Speakers:
- Dr. Adrienne Lindblad, Clinical Evidence Expert Lead, College of Family Physicians of Canada, Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta
- Dr. Tina Korownyk, Director PEER, Professor and Interim Chair, Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta
