These trusted tools and programs have been curated from Canadian sources, including our provincial health-care system, to help you build skills, gain knowledge, and enhance your overall wellbeing. Explore workshops, webinars, and self-paced learning options designed to fit your schedule and meet your needs.
Learning Management System (LMS):
- Psychological Safety and Health: Helping Yourself and Others in the Workplace
- This 30-minute online course is intended for all healthcare workers and provides information on how to maintain your own psychological health and support others in the workplace when workplace stressors are present.
- Building Resiliency Through Self-Care
- This 20-minute course is designed to help the learner understand how stress affects us, build psychological safety, explore holistic wellness, build resiliency plans and provide information regarding available resources.
Manitoba Blue Cross Employee Assistance Program (EAP):
Staff covered by Manitoba Blue Cross can access various EAP workshops and seminars on various topics on their employee Wellness Digital Platform.

Courses from the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety
- Being a Mindful Employee: An Orientation to Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace
- This free 90-minute course, led by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, is about psychological health and safety in the workplace. The goal is to help you understand the 13 psychosocial workplace factors from the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace and what you can do to help yourself and others in the workplace.
- Reducing Mental Health Stigma in the Workplace
- This free, 30-minute course will give you a better understanding of what stigma is, how it causes harm, and how to address it in the workplace.
- Psychological Health and Safety Awareness
- This free, 20-minute course introduces workplace mental health, including an overview of the six categories of psychosocial factors and how they impact the psychological health of individuals and groups. Participants will develop an understanding of the role they play in promoting mental health at work.
- Substance Use in the Workplace: Addressing Stigma
- This free, 30-minute course introduces substance use in the workplace and the impact of stigma and discrimination towards person who use substances, and how to support the people affected.
- Violence in the Workplace: Awareness
- This free, 20-minute course introduces workplace violence, including what it is, behaviours associated with it, sources of violent behaviours in the workplace, and violence prevention legislation.
Micro-Learning Modules from Workplace Strategies for Mental Health
- Avoid Blame and Shame
- This module will help you learn how to provide constructive criticism that avoids defensiveness, keep others feeling positive and motivated, and build better relationships.
- Before You Say No
- This module will help you learn how to avoid people feeling dismissed or disrespected, discover the underlying need in any request, give people what they need, without necessarily giving what they ask for, and build better relationships.
- Communicating with Clarity
- This module will help you learn that how you say things is as important as the words you choose, what you say can be interpreted in many ways, how you can avoid triggering defensiveness, and that good communication builds respect and trust.
- Coping with Change
- This module will help you learn to recognize change, use critical thinking skills and emotional intelligence to enhance your coping strategies, and learn how to navigate change by following a suggested approach.
- Dealing with a Stressful Boss
- This module will help you learn to communicate with your manager when there’s tension, work with your manager’s style, and manage stress.
- Distinguish acknowledgement from agreement
- This module will help you learn how to have productive conversations with people who are upset, avoid a defensive or angry reaction, and build better relationships.

- This module will help you learn practical applications including skills and strategies to be an empathetic listener, the power of silence, effective ways to manage nonverbal communication, and how to understand other’s perspectives.

- This module will help you learn to have solution-seeking conversations about difficult issues, use a positive and supportive approach, trust that each person can be capable, co-create solutions that keep people engaged and committed, and avoid defensiveness in your discussions.

- Burnout Response for Leaders
- This links to information, resources, and workshop materials for leaders to learn how to support your employees during loss while at work.
- Conflict Response for Leaders
- This links to a conflict resolution process and workshop materials that provide a technique that can be especially effective when stress or mental health is a factor. This respectful approach focuses on solutions rather than disagreements.
- Getting Employee Commitment for Leaders
- This 10-minute module will help leaders learn how to manage expectation of employees, take a coaching approach to increase collaboration and innovation, get employees to commit to a plan without ordering them to comply, and improve performance and engagement.
- Grief Response for Leaders
- This links to information and resources for leaders to learn how to support your employees during loss while at work.
- Identifying Employee Issues for Leaders
- This links to information, resources, and workshop materials for leaders to learn how to support psychological safety by approaching workplace issues in terms of solutions instead of problems.
- Indigenous Teaching for Leaders
- This links to information, resources, and workshop materials on building trust and implicit bias for leaders, in addition to learning from Indigenous leaders and managers, elders, and colleagues about how the Seven Sacred Teachings and the Medicine Wheel can benefit work culture and employees at all levels. These teachings can be used to encourage employee confidence, engagement and well-being in any work environment.

- This links to information, resources, and workshop materials for leaders to learn how to support the needs and protect the psychological safety of newcomers.
- Check out this video on the Tree of Well-being tool with newcomer families from Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. In this 10-minute video, several new Canadian families talk about how they have coped with the challenges of resettlement as they create “Trees of Well-Being” together – a tool that helps to highlight the sources of resilience in our lives.

- This links to a self-directed learning program designed for point-of-care providers. This course is designed to help you cope with challenges you’ve experienced as a healthcare provider (HCP) during the pandemic.
- Coping with Stress, Trauma, & Post-Traumatic Stress
- This links to a self-directed learning program designed for point-of-care providers on the impact of trauma.
- An introduction to Trauma-Informed Care
- This links to a self-directed learning program designed for clinicians. This course is designed for healthcare providers (HCPs) working with diverse populations, which can include other providers who may have experienced trauma — either before or during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout this course, “trauma” refers to psychological trauma.

- Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Nursing
- This links to information, resources, and a toolkit on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Nursing. The toolkit was created to provide introductory knowledge on sexual orientation and gender identity and includes teaching tools, learning resources, and links to relevant external resources for those wishing to explore content in greater depth.
