Staff Wellness & Health Booster Session January 2024 Computer Workstation Ergonomics

To support health system workers, Mental Health and Addictions, Shared Health, has organized Staff Wellness and Health Booster Sessions featuring timely topics like stress management and self-care, designed to fit busy schedules, with recorded sessions available as a streaming video on demand.

The events of the past few years has changed the way we work in many ways. This includes increased time spent working on computers and the environment in which we work (hybrid and/or working from home). This session will review computer workstation ergonomic principles and strategies to reduce the risks of musculoskeletal injury and overall wellness. Additional resources and checklists will also be provided.

Sylvia Horvath graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (1998) and a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Rehabilitation (2002). She is a licensed physiotherapist who worked in clinical practice at the Grace Hospital for eight years before joining the WRHA Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health (OESH) Department in 2010 as a Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Specialist.
In this role, Sylvia assists in the development and maintenance of an injury prevention program for employees within the WRHA, including ergonomic assessments for computer workstations, patient handling, and manual materials handling.
