The Government of Canada will be holding its Official Black History Month Virtual Celebration on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 6 to 7 p.m. Hosted by the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion, and organized by the Federal Anti-Racism Secretariat at Canadian Heritage, this event will take place on Zoom on. It will also be broadcast live on the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
While we cannot celebrate in-person this year, this virtual event will highlight the official theme, “February and Forever: Celebrating Black History today and every day” and invite all peoples in Canada to honour and celebrate the resilience and transformative impact of Black communities who are making Black history today and continue laying the groundwork for Black history in the future.
