Prairie Mountain Health: Safe Client Handling Program

Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) is a service delivery organization located in western Manitoba. The organization recognizes quality care includes the safety of both the clients being served and the health care providers offering client services. The program has two components: a staff training program where assessment skills are taught so staff can determine a client’s transferring abilities; and an assessment form for clients as well as bedside board logos identifying the transfer support they require (such as a mechanical lift or one person assist). Fourth year Brandon University students will be presenting on behalf of placement supervisors Tricia Fisher and Nancy Tregunna who co-chair the PMH Regional Falls Prevention Committee.

Presenters:
Yvonne, Jada and Nico are 4th year nursing degree students completing a placement in community health who are expected to graduate in 2022. Nancy Tregunna is an Innovation and Quality Improvement Specialist who is involved with numerous quality improvement projects, health planning initiatives, Accreditation Canada survey readiness and ethics. She co-chairs the regional falls prevention committee and participates on two Loop committees.
