Future of Primary Care: The burning platform and need for change

Canada’s health system is operating under unprecedented pressures. It is estimated that approximately one in five Canadians do not have a family physician or nurse practitioner they see regularly, according to a national survey, and those in equity deserving groups are more highly impacted. Our systems are not optimally designed to address growing and aging populations, increasing chronic conditions, and increasing pressures on primary care.

In the 11th Health Care Summit Series webcast, it will focus on current and future-oriented solutions being implemented and explored to improve access to primary care, such as those aimed at addressing health human resource shortages, one of the greatest challenges facing Canada’s health care system, integrated care models, and optimizing design of health services with technology enabled strategies to add capacity.
