De/Implement: CWC Implementation Research Webinar Series | The MedSafer Study: Understanding the Benefits of Electronic Decision Support for Deprescribing During an Acute Care Hospitalization
The use of five or more medications in patients, also known as polypharmacy, has greatly increased in the past 20 years with at least half of older adults falling into this category. Polypharmacy is the largest risk factor for adverse drug events, putting older adults at the highest risk for potential adverse events. Discontinuing potentially inappropriate medications can help reduce both polypharmacy and the related adverse drug events.
Join us on March 31 at 11 a.m. ET to hear from Dr. Emily McDonald, Internal Medicine Physician, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Clinical Practice Assessment Unit at the McGill University Health Centre. Dr. McDonald will provide an overview of the recently published clinical trial of the MedSafer study, an electronic decision support for deprescribing in hospitalized older adults. Dr. McDonald will help us understand how the study results can be applied to future deprescribing research and outline next steps for MedSafer outside of the acute care hospital environment.
