Choosing Wisely Talks | Choosing Wisely and Deprescribing: Managing Dementia Without Antipsychotics

Across Canada, efforts have been made to reduce the use of antipsychotics to treat neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia. Antipsychotics are powerful medications that can cause harm and offer little benefit to people living with dementia.

Choosing Wisely Talks on February 9 at 11 a.m. CT will feature Dr. Jennifer Watt, Geriatrician and Clinician-Scientist at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Watt will discuss non-medication interventions for treating behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and provide practical advice on deprescribing.
