Wanda is the glue that keeps the Pinawa Community Cancer Program together. She is usually the first person our patients talk to on the phone or see when they come for their first chemotherapy treatments. She is the definition of commitment and dedication to her job, colleagues and to the patients. She has been a part of the Pinawa CCP since 2010 and in our eyes, there is no program without Wanda. She keeps the department organized and running smoothly. She cares deeply about the patients and making their experience at the CCP as pleasant as possible. I can’t think of just one time where Wanda showed her commitment to caring and excellence, as this is something she truly demonstrates every day. From making sure patients get their bloodwork reqs, proper schedules, providing emotional support to patients and family members when needed, rearranging a whole days worth of treatments to accommodate a new patients treatment, to disinfecting exam rooms, decorating the department around the holidays to bring joy and happiness to all, washing a coworkers coffee mug, to making sure all of her colleagues get celebrated on their birthdays with a cake and card, Wanda truly does go above and beyond professionally and personally. She is a true team player and will do anything for her colleagues and for the patients who rely on her.
