Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism (EDI-A) Lead, Shared Health

Hello, I’m Ogai Sherzoi (hear my name), and I’m excited to be part of the Provincial Wellbeing Team at Shared Health. My background is in social work, and I hold both a Bachelor and Master of Social Work from the University of Manitoba. I bring over 20 years of experience in social services, healthcare, and health research. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about advancing equity, social justice, and anti-racism by ensuring that lived and living experiences meaningfully inform decision-making, policy development, and system design. My work is grounded in anti-oppressive practice, trauma-informed approaches, cultural responsiveness, and meaningful collaboration with diverse communities and partners.

Having worked across the healthcare system, I bring a deep understanding of the unique experiences and challenges faced by healthcare staff, leaders, patients, and communities. As the EDI-A Lead, my goal is to advance equitable and inclusive workplaces and healthcare environments by helping to address systemic barriers, racism, and discrimination. I am committed to working collaboratively with staff, leaders, and community partners to foster meaningful change through policy development, education, engagement, and system-level initiatives that promote belonging, equity, and accountability.

In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends and love traveling, which helps me stay grounded, broaden my perspectives, and stay connected to the values that guide my work. I’m looking forward to connecting with you, learning from your experiences, and working together to advance anti-racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion across Shared Health.
