Kelly is one of the hardest working Nurse Practitioners that I know. She works tirelessly to provide the BEST specialized and equitable care possible for ALL patients living with HIV in Manitoba – whether they are inpatients, outpatients, people who reside in Winnipeg or anywhere else in Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, Northern Eastern Saskatchewan or Nunavut. She is an important team member on the HSC HIV Clinic team who identifies and works to fill gaps in patient care by providing primary care services, women’s health services, specialized HIV care support to HIV inpatient care teams and by working with community agencies and supports to strategize novel and flexible approaches to health care for vulnerable populations. She is an expert in HIV care in Manitoba and can be relied on by her clinic team members and beyond for her advice and expertise. On a daily basis she can be found caring for patients in clinic, running from inpatient unit to inpatient unit at HSC supporting care to admitted patients in medicine, surgery, women’s, rehab and mental health, on the phone with other Manitoba hospitals providing advice, facilitating same day access, optimizing discharge planning for admitted patients, or in the ER department helping to connect patients to HIV care. She supports patients, families and her colleagues with a caring and inclusive approach. She develops trusting relationships and provides patient-centred care. We feel VERY fortunate to have Kelly as a care provider and a valued team member in the Adult HIV clinic at HSC!
