Ostomy Supply Coverage and Ordering

Community-Based Clients

For those who meet eligibility requirements, the Manitoba Ostomy Program will cover 100% of basic ostomy supplies for people living in their own home. The NSWOC will work with the client to find a product best suited to their needs, while adhering to provincial contracting requirements. Facility-Based Clients

The Manitoba Ostomy Program is a community-based program. When a client transitions to a facility such as a hospital or personal care home, the facility is responsible for providing ostomy supplies. There are two ways that supplies can be purchased for a facility-based patient:

1. Items stocked at the Health Sciences Centre (HSC) warehouse may be ordered through the health care facility purchasing department and delivered to the HSC warehouse. 2. Items not stocked at the HSC warehouse must be purchased through the facility’s purchasing department directly from suppliers.
