Out of Province Procedures

As of November 1, 2023, new referrals for out-of-province patient procedures are no longer being accepted by the Diagnostic and Surgical Recovery Task Force (DSRTF). The task force is winding down its operations and will close early next year after currently scheduled patients receive their procedures.

Primary Care Providers

As announced, the Diagnostic and Surgical Recovery Task Force (DSRTF) operations are winding down and new referrals for out-of-province programs are no longer being accepted.

  • Eligible patients in the referral pathway prior to November 1, 2023, as well as those with scheduled procedures, will continue to be supported by our teams and will receive their treatments and/or procedures as planned.
  • Out of province procedure referral portals and pathways are closed and no longer active. Referrals should be sent through regular channels within Manitoba.
  • Please inform any patients who may seek to self-refer directly that they will be unable to do so, and refer them for procedures through regular channels
  • Please remove the “Connecting you with the care you need sooner” poster if it is displayed in your facility as it links to DSRTF patient portals that are no longer active.
  • UPDATE January 9, 2024: Your clinic may have previously sent referrals to the Diagnostic and Surgical Recovery Task Force via a referral form that is active in the your EMR system. This form is called ‘Recovery Task Force Sleep Disorder Study Intake Assessment’. Stop using this referral form, and instead begin using the Sleep Disorder Centre (SDC) form, which can also be found in your clinic’s Accuro/EMR or on the SDC website. If you have the ability to delete the DSRTF referral form, please do so. If not, we ask that you flag this form as “DO NOT USE” as the portal is no longer active and referrals will not be processed. If you have any issues accessing the SDC referral form, or have any questions regarding this process, please contact: Misericordia Health Centre 99 Cornish Avenue Winnipeg, MB R3C 1A2 Fax back to: 204 779-8657 Telephone: 204 788-8570

Ineligible patients or patients referred for out of province services after November 1 will be re-directed back to their referring care provider. Moving forward, please refer patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures through routine pre-existing pathways.

The DSRTF will continue to provide supports for operational activities already underway – such as patient navigation and communications with physicians and surgeons specific to patient referrals already in progress.
