Summer Early Exposure

Available to first and second year medical students 

The Early Exposure to Emergency Medicine program offers University of Manitoba medical students an opportunity to explore the fast-paced and diverse field of Emergency Medicine early in their training. Through scheduled shadowing shifts, bedside teaching, and informal mentorship with emergency physicians and residents, students gain insight into acute patient care, clinical decision-making, and team-based practice in the emergency department.

Submit application forms for pre-approval to the Electives Administrator at the UGME Office at least two weeks prior to the start date of your clinical experience to ensure time for review and registration.

POCUS Elective

POCUS emphasizes the use of bedside ultrasound by emergency physicians to rapidly assess, diagnose, and guide procedures in real time. POCUS enhances decision-making in critical situations such as trauma, shock, cardiac arrest, and procedural safety, while also advancing research and education in emerging ultrasound applications
